I would agree with other reviews that this is the best grocery store in town. We came here for a visit, and were impressed with the items that they have and the workers are super friendly and helpful. And one more thing, they do have a public washroom which is great. Open until 8 pm which is perfect.

Be careful going into this place if you wear something on your head, I had Shawn the bouncer kick me out because I wouldn’t remove the covering from my head injury.

The store rules are “no hoods”, I was wearing a hoodie with the hood up after an accident left me with stitches and oozing cuts that are not family friendly,. The guy made such a scene that the manager had to come out, and all he said was “that’s the store policy.

It’s too bad that taking my hood off would have made people, including and especially me, uncomfortable at having these exposed injuries.

Perhaps it’s too much to ask John to make sure his policies are reflective and respectful of all, not just his bodyguards drive to prevent people from shopping, and are to stupid to know how to find someone stealing from them.

Prices are high due to being far from provincial centers, but the variety is good

So if you are from the south, any big city with stupid stores, Costco, save on, Safeway, the super A is not one of those. That being said, this is the better of the two grocery stores in town, and they have an excellent selection across pretty much everything considering you are now North of 60. The store is always well kept, they do a good job of keeping the shelves faced, and the manager and good staff are very helpful and have pride in their store and service.

The bakery makes excellent croissant! Kind of random to have a good grocery store bakery in the North.

Now that you are shopping in the NT, there are some things that you have to get used to. Prices are high, perishables like strawberries should be enjoyed very quickly, and if they have a single selection of what you are looking for, be grateful they have it. Another tip a local gave me was that if you saw something on the shelf that you liked but didn't need right now, buy it anyways because there is a good chance it won't be there when you really need it. This is just the reality of living here.

Last tip, if you are in with kids, ask them to turn on the train.

Super A is one of the 2 grocery stores serving Hay River. Their sale prices are comparable to the sale prices in the Sobey's stores in Alberta. I always checkout their flyers online before going there to shop. Their stocks on the sale items are plentiful so I don't get disappointed when I get there.

Super expensive is what it should be called , nice clean store tho , but be ready to put a second mortgage on your house to buy a weeks groceries

Frozen meat packs seem like a good value, taste and quality of meat remains to be sampled yet. Good selection of canned goods, breads and cold meats and cheeses. The produce area was a little small and I could not find the onions I came looking for. No Red,yellow or white onions I could see, just garlic packs available. Prices not much better than Northern store here in Simpson, but way better brand selections. Big store.
