Tugah, c'est une expérience de rencontres chaleureuses de l'arrivée à la sortie! Nous avons découvert une famille accueillante qui aime partager son histoire et sa passion pour les chiens en toute simplicité. Nous venions du Québec et on se sentait chez nous! Nous avons fait une belle petite ballade sur le lac par une journée de très grand froid en mars dernier, c'était majestueux. Les chiens sont aussi accueillants que les hôtes et nous avons apprécié connaître aussi leur histoire et comment ils sont entraînés. Mahsi!

Our hostess, named Winter, is winner of multiple dogsled races. She competes in the 3-day 150 mile races and has the trophies to show for it. She is a multi-generational dogsled racer. Her cousin who lives up the street is a serious, professional racer who's won numerous races (current champion.)

They know and love their dogs. They know when they want to run and they know the ones that want to retire (the ones not excited to run.) The retired dogs get to live in warm, comfortable homes. But the young ones want to run!

The minute our shuttle arrived, you can hear the dogs howling and itching to run. They can't wait! It was so fun. I highly recommend. Afterwards, you can sit and talk to Winter and their family and ask questions and eat their homemade bread and drink hot tea or coffee (hot off the cast iron wood-burning stove.) So rustic and charming.

They will provide super thick mittens (required) and cover you in thick blankets and pillows during your cold winter ride. It was exhilarating!

This was a fun outdoor adventure in beautiful Yellowknife. The guides were very friendly, allowing us to meet & pet the dogs before the sled ride. They provided many warm blankets and fur hand covers so it was not as cold as I had expected. Was such an exhilarating experience. The scenery is stunning.

This was an amazing experience. The multi generational Indigenous family owners were so welcoming and kind. The bannock was delicious and it was so special to meet the dogs and watch and experience them sled. Thank you so much for such a great time!

Book it, was an awesome time!

Streaming across the ice lake with dogs and their snow crystal wake at sunrise was just epic.
Great several generation dog sledding family, with infectious passion and joy 🤩.
Winter was my sled guide for the trip, and appeared to be immune to the cold 😅. Definitely rug up, the lake temperatures in winter was below -30°C, but they had plenty of mitts and blankets in the sled to keep you warm.
Be sure to try the family made bannock and spreads, as well as a top shelf hot chocolate.

The traditional dogsled tour was amazing. The friendly and knowledgeable hosts made the experience seamless, and the dogs were incredible—so energetic and well-cared for. Gliding through Yellowknife’s stunning snowy landscapes was magical, like stepping into a postcard.

After the ride, we warmed up with tea and some delicious bannock—a local treat that added the perfect touch to the adventure. The guides shared fascinating stories about the history of dogsledding, making the experience even more special.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Yellowknife. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

An incredible experience! The dogs are friendly, energetic, and thrilled to run alongside you. Wynter and River are exceptionally knowledgeable; they shared fascinating stories about their dogs and family history. The awards on display highlight their dedication—they even breed their own dogs. Remarkably, their first dog team was descended from wolves! Wynter also took great photos and videos, you don’t have to worry about missing out! I can’t wait to come back for another adventure.

We were in Yellowknife for only a couple of days and we knew we had to experience dog sledding. Tugah (meaning by the lake) is a seven generation dog sledding family, with a passion for what they do. They really take care of their dogs, and watch the temperatures (if it’s too cold out they will adjust as needed).

It was really cold that day so we didn’t go out for as long as planned, which was fine by me! There were plenty of mitts and blankets in the sled to keep you toasty. Before the ride I took some time to pet all of the dogs they loved it! They were so excited to start running and while we were out on the lake they kept looking back to see if we were still there which was sooo cute!

After the ride we warmed up in the cabin with homemade bannock (heart-shaped for Valentine’s Day!) with a variety of spreads (I really loved the butter, maple, honey spread!) and an amazing hot chocolate. Wynter’s dad told us so many stories about generations past, and all the types of furs that were hanging along the walls.
