Very poor image projected by the very unpleasant ferry worker we encountered. While there is no mention on the web site of the ferry being closed to guests of the island, that is what we encountered when we tried to board. We were told that there is road construction and the restaurant is being renovated on the island so guests are not allowed. This is expected to continue for a year. Really

Wow! First impressions count, right?
Not a place I’ll ever visit again. Bald guy in blue shirt asked me where I was going. I replied the restaurant. Basically he said no, you aren’t. We don’t need trouble on the island. Wait....what? Is this guy joking? I was with adult friends. No, we weren’t intoxicated. We don’t drink. He made us feel like criminals. Turned us away yet other guest were able to board. I was humiliated and embarrassed. Very bad experience.

Spoke to the "lovely" lady on the phone to ask about if the ferry was open and was told they were not. Not only was I told "it's a private ferry and I can do what I want" but after asking why she was being rude, I was told I was rude first and "she didn't have to deal with this s***"... needless to say, the other reviews are not wrong and I wouldn't waste my time even contacting these incredibly ignorant people.

Too sad to see that the owner of this beautiful Island, that a one time was home of an respected Amusement Park, those not care about this ferry, the only way to go and come to Bob lo Island.
It needs to be replaced, it fumes constantly, breakdown a very other week.

Yeah...I don't get it. I saw an earlier review (2 weeks before me) about the island being closed to the public, and being as we've been in Step 2 for a little bit, moving next week to Step 3, I decided to call the island ferry service, myself and see if things changed. But I was told the Island is NOT open to the public for the entire season.

When I called, the clerk that answered sounded like she gave zero funks about it.

I tried researching it, but can't find full details on current ownership of the island. In info from 2014, I found it *was* owned by a Windsor developer, and "The Canadian national parks service owns the beach area and a south-end lighthouse" - so if that part is still true, wouldn't it be regulated partly by the government, and if so, be part of the provincial re-openings?

Not that I necessarily felt it before when they weren't open to the public during the transition from Boblo fun park to residential housing, but I definitely feel now that the residents on there think they are a special group of people and has ALWAYS wanted to exclude others from the island. I don't think it has anything to do with the pandemic, they're using the pandemic as an excuse to prevent people from coming there. The island was public for almost 100 years as an amusement park, so it's not like it's a hidden gem that few people have discovered.
