Comfortable accommodations! The owners are thoughtful and wonderful to work with. I have been staying for a week during the past few summers and I always enjoy my stay.

Perfect spot for a family fishing trip to Ontario!

I was very impressed with the operation and property that Alex and Sonia have going here. The stars I've given are based on the fact that yes, this is a fishing camp and not a luxury hotel. That said, it was so much nicer than I had expected!

We stayed in Cabin 1, which they've updated from two bedrooms with three twin beds, to one large bunkroom with four sets of very nicely built bunks (need new pics on their website--it's much nicer than depicted). Alex built them very sturdy so the top guy doesn't make the whole thing shake when he climbs in. He included (Sonia's idea) little nooks above each bed with an outlet and shelf for phones/clocks/water. The remodeling also allowed for a second bathroom which is KEY for a large group.

When we arrived the beds were neatly made with fresh sheets and fresh towels for everyone. The bedding appeared to be brand new. We may have been the first guests to sleep on the new mattresses and they were comfy! It's a bunk room, but they built in dividers so that everyone has a little nook to themselves. It was so comfortable, I could have slept for 12 hours if my fishing partners didn't wake up at 5:00 am every day, ready to hit the lake.

Sonia and Alex are constantly around making things better, checking in on guests, bringing firewood, etc. You can tell that they love the place and are looking to improve whatever they can. They seem like really great people and I hope they can operate this place for many years.

We're already planning our trip back to Nutt's for 2025. Thank you Alex and Sonia for a great stay!

Tips/Notes:
The boat ramp is just a couple hundred yards away from the docks at the cabins. You could keep your boat in the water at the cabins overnight if you want, but there are other guests who may want to use it (there are two short docks that could accommodate four boats).

The closest boat ramp to get on Lac Seul is about a ten minute drive.

They provide a propane fish fryer--bring your own oil if you want to use it.

Cabin 1 can sleep 8 people, but it was very tight for us with 5 men in the common area. If they are able to put on the additional covered porch/addition that they are planning, it would be OK with 8 people.

They provide some basics like paper towels, salt and pepper, some frying pans and basic plates/silverware/cups/coffee mugs/dish soap.

Great place to stay. The owners Alex and Sonia are amazing people who go above and beyond for their guests. The resort is perfect for the family fishing trip, the guys fishing trip or a week of relaxation. I highly recommend Nutts Country Cabins for anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable place to stay and ‘set the hook’

My wife and I stayed at Nutt's Country Cabins and we had a great time. Our cabin was clean and perfect for our four night fishing trip. Sonia and Alex routinely checked in with us to ensure we had what we needed. We fished Big Vermillion for smallmouith bass, and caught a bunch. On our best day, we caught 128 smallmouth. When we wanted walleye, we drove the 7 minute over to Lost Lake, had access to Lac Suel and had no problem catch'n those walleyes. If you want to catch smallmouth and walleye, and have nice accommodations, this is the place!

I have been a long guest at the Nutts County cabins.
The fishing is absolutely amazing at Lac Seul and Big Vermillion .
Place is clean and quiet.
Alex and Sonia are great camp hosts.
Town is just close enough for your necessities..bait, food ,gas.

This place is a little gem in the hiding, we stopped there on our way from Ont to Alberta and although we didn’t stay in the cabins we stayed two nights camping there with our fifth wheel ! What a beautiful place they have made and their hospitality was amazing would highly recommend it if you want a fishing weekend away. We are glad we stayed to have a refreshing couple nights before the rest of our journey 😊

When we arrived, the owners were there to greet us and the cabin was neat and clean with fresh linens, new draperies(definitely help with the afternoon sun) and all the cooking/eating utensils we would need for our two week stay.

The boat we rented was great for tooling around Big Vermillion and we caught so many fish we really didn't need to venture off the lake. Private dock was in good condition and not too far from our front door so we could decide to go out and within 15 minutes be dressed and loaded into the boat and heading out to catch some trout.

The fish house is large and clean and able to accommodate several people so you can clean your fish and only bring the pretty fillets into your cabin...and leave the not so pretty(and less than sweet smelling) other stuff behind. Obviously you have to clean up after yourself but Alex takes care of the final disposal of the yucky stuff.

Ladies, Sonia takes extra care in how she cares for and sets up the cabins and tries very hard to make sure that when we come, we will be comfortable and have many homey comforts that I had not expected to find in what I had imagined would be a "guys trip" accomodations. So happily surprised!!

The owners are on site most of the week and all evenings and both are constantly working when they are on site to maintain and improve the property. How much they care about their guests and their wants to grow and improve the property is reflected in the grounds and cabins.

We had many conversations with Alex and Sonia throughout our stay and they were both fun to chat with and they provided lots of information about the area, the fishing, good fishing spots as well as letting us know about local events that added to our experience.

We hope to be able to return next year but at the very latest 2024 and hope to stay in this wonderful location/see the great owners when we come back. Thank you Sonia and Alex!!
