Great place to eat. It's attached to the Causeway Hotel in Sparwood BC. The waitstaff are all super friendly. The food tastes handmade and home cooked which is amazing. It's in a coal miners mountain town so everyone is so nice and down to earth. I stop here on the way to work often. Only disappointed once... Ordered the ribs and it was side ribs not back ribs. Still tasted great though.

Huge breakfast menu as well. An entire section of Eggs Benedict!!! Amazing way to start the day.

Pricing is pretty good for the area.

Surprisingly great hospitality and atmosphere! This is a hotel restaurant in the town of Sparwood and is a delightful spot for a nice lunch during your stay or drive elsewhere. The waiter is very kind and accomodating, and the tables and chairs here are comfortable and the vibe is cozy. Food wise, you'll find a nice variety of western dishes and drinks, all of which tasted great from my visit here. Clean washrooms and ample parking too. Highly recommend!

The restaurant has started a "burger and beer" special on Thursday evenings so I went with that. Tonight's feature was the "Smokehouse burger"-- burger patty, piece of brisket, onion ring, cheese and bbq sauce. It had great flavour and a generous amount of meat. Along with a bottle of your choice of domestic, the meal also came with their fries which were lightly seasoned and amazingly crispy. The hostess and waitress were accommondating and friendly. The restaurant was neatly decorated, just enough showcasing the treasures of the area. Not my fave choice in music, but always need something on in the background and this is the music preference of the area so it is well-suited. All in all, a great first experience at this resto.

Great little restaurant! Good food, fair variety of menu options including a few gluten-wise choices, and reasonable prices. Fantastic service! Friendly, helpful staff. We come here for work lunches sometimes, and is also great for get-togethers with friends and family. Cozy atmosphere. 🙂

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent dining experience at your restaurant, Causeway Bay, which I had on Feb 22 2025.
I arrived first and ordered the famous Donny’s chowder (large portion for $27) along with an iced tea, which I have always enjoyed. My husband arrived shortly after and simply wanted a drink. However, we were informed by your staff that he was required to order a meal in order to purchase liquor. While I understand that some establishments have policies surrounding alcohol and food, the way this situation was handled was both confusing and frustrating.
My husband, who had already eaten, was not hungry but agreed and ordered a drink. Unfortunately, the beer that was brought to him was not the one he had ordered. Additionally, when he ordered calamari for $20, he was told that a “meal” was still required. After several rounds of back-and-forth discussions with your staff, he reluctantly agreed to order one of your lunch features priced at $18.
What struck me as illogical was that multiple lunch items on the menu were priced below $20 and would have easily satisfied the restriction. For example, a cup of chowder or a bowl of soup would not have been fine, yet your staff insisted that only a large bowl of chowder would meet the requirement. This inconsistency added to our frustration and made the situation quite uncomfortable.
In light of this experience, I feel the policy surrounding food and drink orders is unreasonable and poorly communicated. It would have been helpful to have this policy explained more clearly at the outset of our visit. The entire experience detracted from what would have otherwise been an enjoyable time.
I hope you will take this feedback into consideration and review your policies to ensure that your guests have a more pleasant and straightforward dining experience in the future. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.
