Upon initially being put off with the work I had done at ITB I refrained from writing a review out of frustration. However now, it has been over a year and the bitter taste is still here.
I had a 2011 service body built by ITB and I love it. I brought 2 trucks to them, one with the service body on and then a larger chassis truck for that to be swapped onto.
I had a list of things I wanted done during the swap. Things like I wanted them to either polish the front facing checker plate aluminum while the body was off, or have a 3rd party come and do it
I wanted a welding repair done to the underside of the service body while it was removed due to it being hard to access when installed
And I needed the wheel wells made larger to accommodate the new tire size but I wanted to keep my original wheel well flare design.
Not one of these things were done. They worked quickly which was good but had no communication with me along the way other than when I called them. Before long they had the body swapped to the new truck and none of the things addressed and they went ahead and riveted some ugly cheap rubber flares to the wheel wells instead of what was there.
Got the truck home and got taking a better look at things. Well the rear cross member for my crane support hangs off the back of the truck frame almost completely, so I had to weld in some brackets to allow it to be fully contacted to the truck frame.
They removed the crane for repairs and the silicone job around the mounting hardware is just plain embarrassing. Completely serves no purpose. Not a huge deal but it is a red flag to do a poor job and have it left in plain sight. It causes one to wonder … what else is like this.
I will say this, no hardware was left loose, nothing they did has quit working or given trouble, however the work just seems poor.
I have chalked it up to the fact that used repair is not their bread and butter, they must prefer building new. As well as I don’t think mechanic service bodies is their priority market. I have been pleased with the 2011 body and it is without a doubt quality. Other folks in the mechanic field have said that the new ones lack quality and my 2011 was build better. I feel they are targeting the van body industry and this is secondary.
All said and done I had a 14k bill for the work done and I felt it was not of high quality.
