Je suis très étonnée de cette communauté , la beauté de l'art, des habitants, et des services. J'aurais aimé trouver le nombre d'habitants! J'ai un fils qui travaille sur les bâteaux qui vont dans le nord.

Good collection of carvings and local arts. They have a new section dedicated to the Franklin Expedition. The person managing the place during my visit was Sabrina, she was very helpful and made us feel very welcome! If you are in Gjoa Haven this place is a must visit!

A place you must visit when you are in Gjoa Haven!

It has much information about the region's Inuit and the Franklin Expedition/other early foreign explorers--awesome displays too. Prices at the gift shop are very reasonable and you can find some great gifts. You might even find an elder or two around to ask questions to.

The lights at the museum might be closed when you go into the building--just ask the staff to go see the museum and they'll turn them on for you 🙂

Decided to pop into the Heritage Center again today and saw this beautiful carving done in 1984 by Marie Taliq Apsaktaun from Kugaaruk. It's made using walrus ivory, sinew & whalebone. This is just one of the many treasures you'll find here at the local museum. Not to be missed if you're in Gjoa Haven!!

Very nice little museum with lots of interesting exhibits about the lost Franklin expeditions and Inuit culture. Very large expansion under construction should result in a really great set of exhibits when it's done.

Small but significant collection of knowledge about Netsilik Inuit culture by the people who know it best. Don't be surprised to find local kids participating in the exhibits! Great shop too.

Love the history and artifacts and carving that are inside the heritage centre. Lots of caring people. A lot of people are still living traditionally, by that I mean hunting/camping out on the land and respecting the land.
