Have been coming here regularly for 17 years, even after moving to the coast.

I had a great first appointment at Optical Solution. Dr was efficient, understanding and thorough. I didn’t have to wait at all. I was given plenty of time and lots of suggestions and info to help me pick out new frames. I am definitely on a budget and the pricing was transparent and not really more expensive than I’ve paid at other offices. My only complaint is the parking is insane over there because of Trader Joe’s so just make sure you give yourself extra time to navigate that.

Yay for Books

I've gotten my last two pairs of glasses from here, and I got excellent service both times. Yes, their frames do tend to run a little expensive, but I didn't feel any pressure to splurge. I chose the cheapest frame I looked at, and they didn't tsk or shame me or anything. And the optometrist was funny and affable, even when she realized I had filled out a form totally wrong and had to correct everything for me.

I have been going to this business long before they moved across the street. We had picked our favorite OD but he left and they now have only Dr Leyen Lim. Yesterday I went in for my yearly exam and it did not go as expected. I was on time and after a few preliminary, automated exams by Cindy was told to wait in the waiting area. Dr Lim showed up 10 minutes later. I was again the first guy after lunch and again I waited for her--happened last time. No worries. Deep breath.
She called me into the office and everything was cordial and she asked the usual questions and I told her that the prescription she gave me two years ago for my reading glasses was still good but if she wanted to test my eyes again for new glasses then ok. They have this new semi-automated device that you peer into and get the usual: This one or that one? The device started malfunctioning and she didn't know how to get it to work. Finally she started fumbling with some ancient thing you put on your face and she manually I guess switches out the lenses until she finds the correct ones. I was getting frustrated being there and told her that since my glasses were fine couldn't we just skip this part. The temperature in the room went up about 20* and she started slamming papers around and I said that I needed to just leave. She said something like: He is refusing an exam. Got really weird in just a few seconds and as I was leaving and she was escorting me out I said something I've never said out loud: I guess I need to find another doctor and then she said: Yes you do. This was the most unprofessional encounter I've ever had with a doctor in all my years. She escalated it to get out in just a few minutes. When I went back to Cindy's area, she was very surprised. At least she didn't charge me.

If you're looking for personalize attention and you avoid places like Lens Crafters, this is not the place for you. You're herded just the same. On top of that, their eye glasses selection is very limited, only expensive/high end frames. My first consultation, I was quoted $1,400!! I left with a pair of $146.00, and I only had ONE frame option at that price. Couple of months later, I lose my glasses and I'm out $146.00 with no glasses. It seemed as though the receptionist there was more interested in getting the most out of my insurance company, rather than helping me out for what I needed most. Bottom line: You're herded from eye exam to frame selection and very small frame selection (expense/designer). At least Lens Crafters has a much bigger frame selection, herding aside.
