In 2023 I have bought a house in Woodland County and Lucas Nanninga from the Perry Law office was my lawyer. He was the lawyer for both, the seller and me the buyer. That double representation saved me $100, however requiring a lawyer who can fairly represent both sides.

I can't say anything about the other lawyers in this office, but I wasn't really so happy with Lucas Nanninga. For two reasons.

The real property report was a condition for the house deal. The day I brought the check into his office, Lucas Nanninga withhold the Real Property Report, a very important document when buying the house. It was certainly meant to be shown and discussed prior to any payments. However, he didn’t hand it out to me and neither he addressed the full information about it. Only some weeks later he sent it to me with a notice that the shed on the property isn’t in a legal location. That was too late to negotiate anything again with the seller! I think Lucas should have given the time to discuss the real property report in detail with me.

Secondly, on the closing date Lucas presented me a strange tax adjustment deal that I didn't fully understand. Of course I signed the documents believing that everything needs to be like that and will turn out fine. However, a bit later the Woodland County office issued a penalty against me because of a late tax payment. The office also said that Lucas should have contacted them to prevent the penalty or at least inform me about due tax payments, which he didn't.

Lucas reimbursed me for the penalty which speaks for his honesty as a responsible lawyer. In general I think, he was just a bit too fast with me on the closing date. Everything else worked fine, all the documents seemed to be very accurately prepared ....
