We had some friends visiting us and we decided to explore Coyote Flats Pioneer Village in Picture Butte. Our 5 Star experience started with the entrance fee. $20 per household. Which means a lot for us with 8 children and our friends with 6 (18 people in all). When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and offered a tour. I said we were just waiting for our friends, then we will start. When they arrived we went into the hall. The guide split us into 2 groups and supplied another guide. Wise advice on this point. We split into boys and girls and headed off. Our guide kindly brought us into every building, and there were plenty of things to see, handle and climb on. After 3.5 hours we were pleasantly worn out and felt we spent some quality time learning about our predecessors, what things looks like, and what life was like 100 years ago.
A special thanks to Andi our tour guide.

P.S the best part for me was the picture I’ve posted of the Eatons Catalogue Home. This home was ordered from Easton’s in 1915. It cost $975.00 and was delivered by train. Once arrived the home would be built by a carpenter. This exact home was later donated and moved to the museum. Homes back then cost about $2000.00 but wages were also a lot lower. Average farm hand wage is said to be about $300 per year.

Nice open air museum for kids and adults that are interested in learning how Canadian life was back in the days. A must visit for every immigration that has made Canada their new home.

This is a smaller version of Calgary Heritage Park.

There are also small rides for the kids to enjoy. As it is an open air museum. Everything is locked You have to get hold of someone in the yard to open all model displays for viewing.

You will need at least 3-4 hrs to see all displays at the museum. Cost is $20 for the family and it is a totally honour system. All proceeds go towards the costs to keep the museum open.

This place is listed in Google maps as a tractor museum. Ok there were alot of cool tractors!!! But this place is so much more that a tractor museum. It is more like an old fort with all of the buildings from around Southern Alberta in one place and there is even an old fairy that was in use until recently!!! The tour guide was very informative, knew so much about all of the buildings and the history of where they came from!!! This was so much more than we expected and we will definitely be back with more people from our family!!! I would recommend this place to any history buff or just aunt Susie!!! I loved it!!!

Excellent museum with loads of historical buildings and equipment preserved from the surrounding area. We went on a weekend and got a one-on-one guided tour. The staff and volunteers are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. Tons of local history and context.

This is a hidden gem. Lots of tractors on display, and recreated old small town buildings arranged neatly on the property. It feels very much like a movie set. There is a reasonable admission fee (bring cash). Friendly people all around.

Great vintage farm machinery display. The most tractors I've ever seen and yea they're still running. Enter by donation so if you have a big family or car load it's great. There's a hall for eating and ice cream. There are some vintage buildings as well.
