Our initial perception of modular homes was anything but what we saw when first visiting Quality Homes in Cookstown. After comparing the quality & value with conventionally-built homes, we decided to purchase our new home from Quality Homes.

What we liked about Quality Homes was how customizable the process was with all costs itemized for a sense of full transparency as our home was a custom design. The savings compared to having a conventionally-built home allowed us to upgrade in many other aspects such as a quartz countertop, additional bathroom, front exterior stonework, etc. Also, another major selling point for us was the speed at which everything came together with the order placed in April, the house built & delivered in August & us moving in by mid-October 2019.

Now after living there four months, we are most happy with everything including the excellent workmanship for example the high energy efficiency as seen with our low gas & hydro bills. The home comes with a 10-year Tarion warranty & Quality Homes comes back after 1-month & 1-year of living in home to tend to any noticed issues that may arise from home being moved & placed on its foundation (eg. some drywall get small cracks from the moving & settling process).

Special thanks to our sales rep Jean for cheerfully guiding us through this new process able to solve each challenge, Kimberley for being so indispensable helping us with the permits & keeping us on track & Barry, our project manager, who was always available to answer our many questions & a pleasure to deal with all around. We truly loved our experience with Quality & would highly recommend to others.

Beware of 'Quality' homes warranty. They just warranty for one year. A truss of our home's roof came apart and the roof is sagging now. When we contacted Quality homes, they indicated the 1 year inspection showed no defects and there is no warranty coverage. In other words, Quality Homes is only confident enough to warranty the roof for 1 year, not even 5. Note, the snow loads have been medium to light the past two winters, there is no explanation except a structural design flaw to account for the failure of the truss.

UPDATE:
Although the initial response by Quality Homes to our problem was dismissive, they came through in the end. Yesterday a two man crew arrived and did a top quality repair job. That part of the roof is now the strongest. 2x6's, glue and engineered screws were used to make the repair. The rating has been changed from three to five stars.

Quality Homes made possible our dream come true. They built a beautiful and solid house from designing to delivering it ready to move in.
For us , having a house built was not only about how smooth the process would happen but it was also about to have a team of professionals with us all the way to overcome eventual challenges in order to complete the project on budget and on time. I have been in my QH Riverstone for just under 2 months. From the start, QH has been excellent. Andrew and Jean at the Cookstown location were a pleasure to deal with. Jean answered all my questions, even if it meant getting back to me. Having Kimberley for Permits, Dave on the foundation and the many countless others who worked on the delivery, QH was upfront, professional, and reassuring I made the right choice, especially during Covid. As my HUG date approached, Dan quickly addressed any issue that came up. During the foundation work, a local resident, made a point to stop and let me know that they were a previous QH customer, “you made a good choice”. No better review than that.

In originally looking into various options, including other modular home companies, I found that Quality Homes offered much more then others.

The included finishes were far superior to others. The up front clarity of everything that is included was unlike any other home builder. I love the fact that Quality Homes has no hidden costs or anything additional that is not discussed.

I also love the HUG date that Quality Homes guarantees it’s date of completion. That’s is a rare thing in home building (especially during these times).

I found that the price of the homes was exceptional to other home builders. Which is surprising especially given the level of expertise in each step of the process. Starting with the home designer, drafting, foundation manager, site manager and all the appointed top tier trades.

I would and have recommend Quality Homes to anyone thinking of having their dream home built. Having your home built in a climate controlled environment and a industry leading 10 year Tarion warranty means peace of mind and shows a company that stands behind their product

I’m so very excited to see the home we had designed that was custom built for our lot. As a secondary dwelling on my property for my Parents and Grandmother it is absolutely perfect! So much easier of a process then I ever expected!
