Kenneth Fersht is one of my favorite photographers. He has command of a wide range of techniques and knowledge of his tools, so he is a great technician. These, most people with time can acquire. It is in the more nuanced side of photography that Kenneth shows his unique mastery. His feel for nature is deep and the senses of form and composition are excellent. But it is his capturing of people, in both portraiture and generally, where his abilities, to me, most shine. His subjects, from all walks of life, are obviously at tremendous ease, and fully enjoying their experience with their photographer. We see tremendous expressions of joy in life and a wide variety of feeling. The subjects so often seem strikingly present in the captured moment. This inter-personal achievement is not nearly so available to aspiring photographers, no matter how much time they have put in. We see in so many of his subjects a feeling of being admired, respected and simply "liked." This I think cannot be faked.

I did some modeling for kmax photography and had tons of fun exploring salt spring in the process. I felt very safe with Kenneth. He was very respectful and held and respected clear boundaries in the working relationship. Would definitely work with him again.

Hired Ken to build a website and take pictures for the site. I paid Ken $1500 in advance of the $2000 agreed to. Ken had 3 months to complete the task. Several times during this process I asked Ken for updates and to see the website as it developed. Ken thought that I was being argumentative and hard to work with because of these requests. After 2.5 months he showed me a landing page and a few other pages with just stock wording.

The contract was to end and website delivered by Jan 1. This never happened. After several requests for updates I ended the contract on Feb 15. I emailed Ken and explained that this wasn't going to work. I said I was willing to pay him $1000 for his time spent on the project and for the pictures he did take. Ken refused to refund any money OR to supply the pictures he took. In essence Ken took $1500 for a service that he never completed.

This matter could have been solved quite easily. However Ken refused and stopped answering emails. I find Ken to be a dishonest business person and of low character. I would not do business again with him and strongly suggest that no one give him a deposit for service.

I've known Ken for over 20 years, and continue to marvel at his skills and talents in the media arts. The one thing that stands out in my mind when I think of Ken is his honesty. I can always depend on him to do the right thing in any situation.
