The Curious Cat Tea and Books has relocated (around the same time I am FINALLY leaving the Micro Boutique). I’m officially on the hunt for a place closer to the mall because, let’s be real, I feel lost without this business in my immediate living circle.

This is not just an excellent business—it’s run by an owner who is an outstanding businessman. He’s naturally talented at what he does and seems destined to provide Antigonish with the best bookstore ever. He also keeps me sane, though I’ve never told him that. (After all, how do you explain feeling “insane” or having those “omg, life tho” moments?)

What’s more, he actively supports and encourages the community to shop locally, which speaks volumes about his character—definitely not greedy. And the store itself? Amazing. The selection of books and merchandise is out of this world. Amazon feels so 2020 in comparison, while this place is all about 2025 and beyond! Move over, Elon Musk—The Curious Cat is already “in space,” relaxing with tea, books, and hopefully, cats.

I was very surprised at the incredible variety of local interest, French, poetry, loose teas, and LGBTQ+ content that fit in what looks to be from the outside a small store. I was glad to see a large selection of local chocolatier Peace By Chocolate, as well as really cool and cute non-book things like the narwhal mugs and chicken purses.

The owner Donovan seemed to know instantly what each varying customer needed from him while I was there, whether it be to jokingly pretend he hadn't seen a daily regular ever before or to reassure a jetlagged complete stranger that it's okay to feel unsure of who you are. I felt very comfortable there shopping for so long for my incredibly varied haul of goods. I highly recommend this shop!

Always enjoy a stop in here, where the owner greets everyone. I don't stop in often enough, but they offer some truly unique and curated selections. My son picked out Where the Wild Things Are, a classic, as well as a much lesser known alphabet book.

Absolutely loved visiting here. The guy working was incredibly friendly and sweet with my very outgoing daughter. I honestly spent more than I intended because of the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It's exactly what I want from a local business. There's pride stuff, locally made stuff, new books, used books, and a ton of cats (in plush, ceramic, sticker, and probably more forms)... what's not to love? We don't live in town but we'll be back for sure.

This is one of my family's absolute favourite places. There is something for everyone - lots of great books. It has such a welcoming vibe and the friendliest, most helpful owners. Wonderful spot!

An excellent selection of books, including a used book section. There are always lots of adorable handmade crafts and goodies. A great place to shop for gifts for anyone. This is a delightful independent bookstore with a great selection of books and gifts. The owners, Robin and Donovan, are cheerful, interesting and helpful; they'll help you find whatever you want and they'll order books for you happily. It's a great place to browse, have a cup of tea and buy yourself a gift. If you're in Antigonish don't miss it.
