My experience at Cape Breton University was amazing! I remembered when I stepped into the university for the first time, watching people interact with each other, and how others were going about their day. I remembered being lost multiple times, trying to find my way to class, getting my school ID card. Meeting with my colleagues and professors. Wondering how I’ll ever get to settle in quickly. CBU had their challenges on housing plus a hurricane just hit the area, so it was tough both on the school and the local community. It was a scary time for me because I had to secure a place to stay. Campus accommodation was filled up plus the natural disaster that just hit the place. The community wasn’t ready to take on international students. Among all the frustration from students, CBU tried their best to make as much provisions as they could. It took me a few months to finally begin to settle in but after that, it was fine. I enjoyed my lectures with my professors. During my free hours, I would explore the campus. It is a beautiful school. I love the flag area. I always enjoy playing soccer, basketball and pickleball. There were lots of programs to help support students mental health which I find amazing. We had the Nancy Dingwall medical center where you can easily go for medical concerns. My biggest highlight was how my professors delivered their courses. They prepare you for the real world in the Canadian economy. I’m proud and honored to be a part of CBU, and the school will always have a special place in my heart.

From starting my journey at CBU as a student to now being part of its staff, I can confidently say that this university is truly one of a kind! The professors genuinely care about their students' success, providing guidance and support every step of the way. The staff is equally welcoming, always ready to offer a helping hand and create a positive, supportive environment for Students.

Beyond the classroom, CBU fosters a strong sense of community, where students are encouraged to grow both academically and professionally. The campus is located in a very tight knit community, which makes the atmosphere warm and inviting, making it easy to connect with peers, faculty, and staff who all share the same goal of helping each other succeed. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the university that has given me so much. You will not be disappointed with your experience here!

I had the privilege of studying in the Post-Baccalaureate Business Analytics program at CBU, and it was an incredibly enriching journey. During my studies, I worked a student job, which not only added to my learning experience but also provided valuable professional exposure. I was also fortunate to secure an internship with the marketing team, which significantly enhanced my knowledge and gave me my first professional work experience in Canada.

The support and guidance from the community, including fellow students and staff, were outstanding. Despite facing challenges such as housing and managing a job, the experience of learning, growing, and building connections in a new country was truly rewarding. The university's supportive environment made all the difference in my personal and professional development.

A close-knit university community like no other! CBU is constantly working at improving the student experience. The campus is well taken care of, with upgrades always underway, and great facilities. The community like aspect of the university allows for you to consistently see familiar faces. The generous staff at CBU provide high levels of education while wanting to see you achieve. I believe that some of the opportunities you can create at this university are not present in other places. From my experience, the Cape Breton University staff/professors/administration feel much more like your friends than superiors. Who wouldn't want that?

The CBU employees I have worked with over the past 7+ years never lose sight of doing what is best for our students. They could easily chose what is easiest for their budget, their department, their staff comfort, but they weigh every decision against what best serves students and their diverse needs. When you come to CBU to study, you will be well cared for and well educated - you just need to reach out, get involved and ask!

As a graduate of Cape Breton University (CBU), I can confidently say that my online learning experience was nothing short of extraordinary. While my degree program was delivered virtually, CBU’s commitment to creating a personalized and supportive educational environment made me feel connected and valued every step of the way. Despite being miles away, it never felt like I was studying alone.

From the very beginning, the staff at CBU went above and beyond to ensure that I had all the resources I needed to succeed. The professors were not just instructors—they were mentors who genuinely cared about my academic progress and personal growth. Their dedication to my success was evident in the personalized feedback they provided, their willingness to engage with students individually, and their constant encouragement.

The Education department, in particular, was phenomenal. The faculty members fostered an environment that felt more like a family than a classroom. There was always a sense of camaraderie among students, and it was clear that the department was deeply invested in helping us develop both professionally and personally. The collaborative nature of the program made it easy to build meaningful connections, despite the physical distance, and I always felt that I had a strong support system in place.

What stood out most to me was the sense of community at CBU. The university’s commitment to student success went beyond just academics; it was about ensuring that every student felt empowered and capable of achieving their goals. From tailored academic support to career guidance and personal well-being initiatives, CBU was dedicated to providing a holistic and enriching experience for all of its students.

The support I received, coupled with the incredible faculty and the overall sense of belonging, made my time at CBU a truly transformative experience. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a supportive, inclusive, and dedicated community, and I look forward to staying connected with CBU for years to come
